Thalirmankunnu devi temple is situated at thevannoor, in kollam district of kerala state. This old temple has much relation to Bhagavan Ramachandra and Sita Devi. It is believed that Bhagavan & Devi lived here during their ‘Vanavasa’. It is said that from here Sita Devi was taken away by ‘Ravana’ by taking the form of a ‘Small deer’, which attracted Devi’s ambition and run behind it.

On his way with Devi, Ravana had to fight with ‘Jadayu’ a bird who was an ardent devotee of Bhagavan ‘Srirama’. This fight took place very near to Thevannoor(Devannoor-old name) viz. Jadayumangalam(4kms.) where ‘Jadayu’ was defeated by Ravana and breathe its last after Rama’s blessings and attained Moksha. The incident reveals the importance of the place ‘Devannor’. Now ‘Jadayumangalam’ is known as ‘Chadayamangalam’ which is on the way to Sabarimala Sri. Ayyappa Temple(1.5 hrs from Trivandrum).

Now the Condition of this Devi Temple is very pathetic and in a dilapidated stage. Some native devotees and well-wishers have formed a committee to renovate this historic temple. Renovation of Sri. Kovil, construction of an arch gate, courtyard to modify with stones, Nadapandal, Kalyana Mandapam ,spiritual library, veda patasala and a small residence to Poojari are the work to be completed urgently.

For this your valuable suggestions ,participation and contribution are highly inevitable to materialize this holy action.(Approximately Rs.1 Crore is required).
